About Pannell
William Pannell, MD, is a board-eligible orthopaedic surgeon at LA Orthopaedic Specialists in Downtown Los Angeles, California. Dr. Pannell specializes in the treatment of pelvic and acetabular fractures, nonunions, malunions, and deformity. He is passionate and has dedicated himself to the care of patients with complex fractures.
Dr. Pannell earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and then obtained his Doctor of Medicine from UCLA. He completed his surgical internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Southern California (USC) and continued his education with an orthopaedic trauma fellowship at USC. During fellowship he focused on complex fracture care, pelvic and acetabular fractures, nonunions, malunions, long bone deformity, and the care of multiply injured patients.
Dr. Pannell was selected to travel to Davos, Switzerland during his fellowship training under the AO Trauma organization, the world’s leader in the research and surgical treatment of fractures. During a week-long course titled “Tips from the Masters”, he had the opportunity to learn from world renowned orthopaedic surgeons in all aspects of orthopaedic trauma surgery. In addition to being a member of AO North America, Dr. Pannell is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the Orthopaedic Trauma Association.
In his free time, Dr. Pannell is an avid welder and machinist. He also enjoys spending time outdoors and traveling with his wife, Dr. Stephanie Pannell, and their dog Popcorn.
